Football director

David joined the board of Oxford United as a non-executive director during the 2013-14 season after an invitation from chairman Darryl Eales.

The chairman has described David’s role as providing “football intelligence” through the knowledge he’s picked up in 20 years of working in the industry and his network of contacts.

David works closely with the club’s recruitment team and offers support to the management and board on football issues.

During his time at the club David has seen Oxford promoted from League Two to League One, reach back to back EFL Trophy finals at Wembley Stadium and enjoy two impressive FA Cup runs, taking Premier League scalps along the way.

He has also been involved in the negotiation process for several multi-million pound transfers, and led the club’s recruitment of a new manager.

The role has helped give to David a unique insight into the workings of professional football.
